To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends

아름다움을 식별할 줄 알며
다른 사람에게서 최선을 발견하는 것
To appreciate beauty
To find the best in others


아이를 건강하게 기르든,
한 뙈기 정원을 가꾸든
자기가 태어나기 전보다
세상을 조금이라도 살기좋게
만들어 놓고 떠나는 것
To leave the world a bit better,
whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition

자신이 한 때 이곳에 살았음으로 해서
단 한 사람의 인생이라도 행복해지는 것
To know ever one life has breathed easier because you have lived
