Day 1:
1. 5 types of traditional forms of greeting in India.
- Namaskara or Namaste
- Hastalaghava
- Parish-vanga, alingana
- Pranama
- Pada sparsa
'Significance of Namaste' : Reducing one's ego in the presence of the other. (Friendships and humility)
2. Lamp light
In almost every indian home
a lamp is lit daily before the altar of the Lord.(sesami oil)
- Akhanda Deepa
A bindi(kumkum)signifies female energy and is believed to protect women and their husbands.
- tilak (when worn by men)
-Earlier times,
Brshmin :white color (purity)
Kshatria:valour(warrior)
Vaishya:yellow (prosperity)
Sudra:black (service)
